MORE REQUESTS FOR REPATRIATION OF ANTIQUES, THIS TIME FROM JORDAN

Jordan’s archeology chief Ziad al-Saad requested that Israel return 70 ancient lead books, said to have been stolen and smuggled into Israel.  These pieces could be the earliest Christian writing in existence. They are said to contain writing and symbols in archaic Hebrew and could be dated to the 1st century A.D. It is reported that they were excavated by a Jordanian Bedouin about five years ago  and then found their way into the hands of an Israeli Bedouin.
