Major RETROSPECTIVE EXHIBITION DEVOTED TO JAPANESE ARTIST HOKUSAI

at the Martin-Gropius Bau in Berlin

You may heard about the Great Wave off Kanagawa from the Thirty-Six Views of Mount  Fuji, the Japanese color woodblock print by Hokusai
(1760-1849) but Hokusai was also an accomplished painter as evidenced by this painting of Shoki. Some 400 works of art, mainly from Japanese museums and private lenders, many of them shown outside Japan for the first time, have been brought to Berlin until October 24, 2011.
