MAHARAJA

at the  ASIAN IN SAN FRANCISCO
October 21, 2011-April 8, 2012

I would immediately think of kundan jewelry but this exhibit explores a wide variety of materials roughly from the end of the Mughhal empire in the early eighteenth century  until the end of British rule in 1947. On display will be both Indian and Western works featuring paintings, photography, textiles and dress, jewelry and jeweled objects, metalworks and furniture. The exhibit is organized in cooperation with the V & A, London.
