What do the Maya and the Medici have in common?

What do the Maya and the Medici have in common? Both spurred advancements in arts and culture: The Maya developed the most advanced writing system in the Americas as well as a characteristic architectural style, and the Medici steered the course of art history through the family’s tireless patronage of the artists and craftsmen of Florence. Both are brought to you by the letter “M.” And both had dedicated exhibitions open at HMNS on Friday. Come see each exhibit yourself to marvel at human ingenuity in Gems of the Medici and explore timekeeping in Maya 2012: Prophecy Becomes History.
